MSR:lt:5/3/73 <br /> ;ry <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 6899 <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION COMMENDING LEONEL VALENCIA ON WINNING THE <br /> SENIOR GOLDEN GLOVES TITLE, 119 POUND DIVISION, IN <br /> THE PACIFIC ASSOCIATION A.A.U. CHAMPIONSHIPS <br /> WHEREAS, the National A.A.U. Golden Gloves Championship <br /> consists of a system of nationwide eliminations which culminates <br /> in the nation' s best amateur boxers, representing regions and <br /> associations throughout the county, competing for the overall <br /> national title in their respective divisions; and <br /> WHEREAS, Boston, Massachusetts is the site of this year' s <br /> National A.A.U. Golden Gloves Championships; and <br /> WHEREAS, Leonel Valencia, of Redwood City, has won the Pacific <br /> Association of the A.A.U. Championship Senior Golden Gloves Title <br /> in the 119 pound division, thereby earning the right to compete <br /> for the national title in Boston, beginning on May 7, 1973; and <br /> WHEREAS, he has been a member of the Police Youth Club boxing <br /> group for two years and is also a student at Sequoia High School <br /> where he was recently awarded the "Al Anderson Award" at Sequoia' s <br /> "Boys Night" as the most outstanding fighter; and <br /> WHEREAS, in addition to his outstanding boxing abilities, <br /> Leonel Valencia is known by his fellow boxers and classmates as <br /> a "quiet, courteous guy" and a "gentleman" ; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> This Council hereby congratulates Leonel Valencia on the <br /> occasion of his winning the Pacific Association of the A.A.U. <br /> Senior Golden Gloves Title in the 119 pound division at the San <br /> Francisco Civic Auditorium and wishes him continued success in <br /> the National Golden Gloves Championships in Boston beginning on <br /> May 7, 1973, and in all his future competitions. <br /> /7 / : fir£; 1 C I dZ <br /> !
