I F'-I

R EPOR T To the Honorable Mayor and City Council

From the ~

April 8, 2002

Subject
Acceptance of Grant Deed - Seaport Boulevard Truck Turn-Around From Pacific
Shores Development, LLC, A Delaware Limited Liability Company - Engineering File
No. 801-05

Recommendation
Accept the grant deed from Pacific Shores Development, LLC, a Delaware' limited liability
company, and direct the City Clerk to accept on behalf of the City, said grant deed pursuant
to Resolution No. 10944, adopted December 5, 1988, and to record a certified copy of this
Resolution and Minute Order in the Office of the San Mateo County Recorder.

Background
As part of the Pacific Shores Development, a truck turn-around lane was constructed off of
Seaport Boulevard to provide relief to truckers whom may have inadvertently missed the
Frontage Road turn-off entrance at Seaport Court. After the truck turn-around was
constructed, trucks were observed mounting the curb and damaging the new landscaping
and irrigation. The designer of the turn-around increased the width and turning radii, which
requires granting the public an additional 304 square feet. The developer will be widening
the truck turn-around as part of the Pacific Shores Subdivision Improvements, Lots A-H
approved by Resolution 14152 on February 27, 2001.

Pacific Shores Development, LLC is the owner of the site and is dedicating the necessary
right-of-way. Their engineer, Bohley Consulting, has prepared the legal description including
the plot for the grant deed to the City of Redwood City. The grant deed and legal description
were prepared to the satisfaction of the City's Engineering and Construction section and are
ready for City Council action.

Fiscal Impacts
This project will allow wayward trucks to safely return to the Frontage Road without
damaging recently completed improvements. As part of the Development Agreement, the
developer is paying' for these improvements. Once the City accepts the Subdivision
Improvements, the City will maintain the roadway, but the Developer will pay for the
maintenance of the landscaping as part of a Landscape Maintenance District.

-Brian Lee ,/~-~l'Patterson Ed E~er-ett ~
Senior Civil Engine~//Manager, Engineering & Construction City Manager

BL:ss
s/library/reports/brianl/Accept_G rant_Deed_Pacific_Shores
