REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Mana er
July 28, 2003
Subject
Final Acceptance — 2002 -2003 Carpet Replacement Project
Recommendation
Accept the improvements for the 2002 -2003 Carpet Replacement Project, and
authorize the release of bonds.
Background
The 2002 -2003 Carpet Replacement Project replaced carpet two of the City's civic
facilities, as follows:
1. Fire Station No. 9 was built in 1986. Due to the fading color and thinning of the
fiber, the carpet became necessary to replace. The new bright colored carpet
(tile carpeting) and new padding render a more aesthetic appearance to staff
and visitors.
2. The Police Facilitv was built in 1991. Due to wear and tear, the carpet also
became necessary to replace. The new carpeting tiles have rendered a more
aesthetic finish.
The work was completed by Spectra Contract Flooring, Inc. of South San Francisco, for
the total amount of $170,307. The original contract bid amount was $164,470, and
there was only one additive change order in the amount of $5,837.00 (for several
additional rooms and two (2) elevator cab floors, that also needed recarpeting).
Fiscal Impacts
Funds in the amount of $193,000 were appropriated in the FY 2002 -2003 Capital
Improvement Program Budget for Carpet Replacement Program.
I
Jon K. 46ch r — t - Wuce Uedstrand
City Engineer -/ Community Development Services Director
r , " /,',, /V
Ed Everett
City Manager
JKL:ss
s /library/ reports /lynch /Acceptanance_Carpet Replacement
