Motion carried. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved that the Planning Commission be asked to make a study for <br /> rezoning, as they see fit, that area from Marshall Street over to Brewster Avenue. <br /> He stated the area in question is Winslow, Marshall and Bradford all the way to <br /> Brewster Avenue. Motion seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> Councilman Britschgi invited all the Councilmen attending the League of California <br /> Cities Convention in San Francisco, to a luncheon on Tuesday, September 20th. <br /> - Councilman Spillers referred the matter of barrels in the creek to the City Manager. <br /> Councilman Granger was of the opinon that mothers in the areas where school guards <br /> are needed might be recruited. Captain Faulstich stated that he did not a <br /> g p o have a <br /> recruiting problem. <br /> Councilman Granger suggested that the Police Department supervise an area, possibly <br /> at the Rodeo grounds, where boys could "explode" their cars and have "drag races" <br /> instead of doing it all over town, Mayor Jones referred this matter to the Police <br /> Department. <br /> Councilman Granger moved that from now on all petitions which come before the Council <br /> be checked as to their authenticity and that the Council not accept any petitions <br /> presented on the night of Council meetings, seconded by Councilman Spillers and <br /> carried. <br /> COMMUNICATION DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS wherein they statedthat corrected plates have been <br /> ordered amending the census figure shown on highway signs designating the city <br /> limits of Redwood City. It well require about 60 days to have them made and in- <br /> stalled. Letter filed. <br /> PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION recommended that favorable consideration be giventot he <br /> petition wherein the people asked that the Council request the State of California <br /> to remove all trees on El Camino Real between Whipple Avenue and Brewster Avenue <br /> to allow replacement of all trees with avariety of trees more suitable and which <br /> will not hinder business operations or damage driveways and sidwalks. After <br /> discussion this was referred to Councilman Granger as Chairman of the Beautification <br /> Committee. <br /> PETITION FROM THE PEOPLE ON THE 600 AND 700 BLOCK OF HOPKINS AVENUE AND STANDISH AVENUE <br /> PROTESTING THE BARKING AND HOWLING DOGS located on the Mcl``iillan property at 642 <br /> Hopkins Avenue. Councilman Royer moved that this be referred to the City Manager, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> City Engineer Jain stabd that this office has received a petition for sewers in the <br /> - Highlands of Emerald Lake No. 4 area. One of the men in his office had written <br /> the petition and an error was found in that the petition called for sewers only <br /> and not water lines. <br /> II <br /> Meeting adjourned on motion of Councilman Royer, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and <br /> carried.
