Councilman Granger moved, public..hearing be set. for two weeks, seconded <br /> by Councilman Spillers and carried. . <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DENIAL OF FANNUCHI REQUEST TO RESUBDIVIDE PORTIONS OF LOTS 12 ' <br /> to 15, REESE SUBDIVISION (1206 EBENER) INTO 2 UNDERSIZED LOTS, ONE OF WHICH IS LESS THAN <br /> 3,000 SQUARE FEET. Councilman Spillers moved. approval of the Planning Commission's <br /> recommendation to deny, seconded....by Councilman: Jones and carried. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDED DENIAL V. MASSARIE REQUEST. TO RESUBDIVIDE LOTS 5 to 8, BLOCK <br /> 4, WEST REDWOOD (CORNER ROOSEVELT AND VALOTA ROAD) INT0.3 LOTS. CREATE TOO HIGH A DENSITY. <br /> City Engineer Jain stated that. this .. should be_ referred. back .to .the. Planning Commission <br /> because. of error..in determining the. width.of, the..street... Councilman Spillers moved that <br /> the matter be returned. to the .Planning_ commission, __seconded by Councilman Royer and <br /> carried. <br /> TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMEND STOP SIGNS ON IRIS STREET ON BOTH SIDES OF JEFFERSON AVENUE. <br /> Councilman Spillers moved approval of the Traffic Fact Finding Committee's recommendation, <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones and carried. <br /> BROTHERHOOD OF LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEERS RECOMMEND CLOSING SPRUCE, CEDAR. AND MAPLE STREET SOUTHERN <br /> PACIFIC TRACT CROSSINGS AND INSTALLING GATES ON CHESTNUT, MAIN AND JEFFERSON AVENUE. <br /> Councilman.Stout moved that this .letter be turned.over to.the Traffic Fact Finding <br /> Committee.. for.: further. study,.. seconded. by. Councilmen Spillers. Councilman Granger stated <br /> that the Southern Pacific had asked to close .Beech. and Elm_ Streets and the City closed <br /> them. The City went along .wit.h_ the Southern ..Pacific .Company and let them take off the <br /> gateman and let. them ins_tall..gates, much....to.. the..Ci.ty.'.s... regret The Southern Pacific <br /> Company has never done .anything._in_ regard to. Spruce.. Str.ee.t....._. This. crossing is in terrible <br /> condition. Gates..at..one..time,.were. on..Jeffsrson Avenua.and.Maple.Street and the Southern <br /> Pacific had done_no.thing.to help, the situation. The City is not getting the results <br /> . that.were promised.in regard .to.fixing the. crossings. at Whipple, etc. He was of the <br /> opinion that the Southern Pacific should do something for the City for a change before <br /> the City does anything for the Southern Pacific Company. Councilman Royer stated that <br /> he was of the opinion that the motion was in order and that it was turned over to the <br /> Traffic Fact Finding .Committee. The motion carried on roll call with Councilman Brits- <br /> chgi being noted absent and Councilman Granger voting NO. - <br /> REDWOOD CITY CREDIT UNION REQUEST FOR PAYROLL DEDUCTION PLAN. There was a letter submitted <br /> and a petition with 111 names of employees asking for payroll deduction plan. Councilman <br /> Granger moved that the employees be granted permission.for payroll deductions, seconded by <br /> Councilman.Stout.. City Auditor John Brophy .spoke. fr.om. the, flo.o.r and stated that he <br /> thought this..matter should be taken .up. with .the..payroll..department.... He did not w ant to <br /> go to the expense_ o.f. se.tting. up_. a register and_ ha. did not..want. to proceed with the plan <br /> if there. _wer.e . only. going to be...10 or. 12 members signed. up.. for..the plan. He further <br /> stated that.he did not.think.this.should be.cons.idered before January 1st of next year. <br /> Councilman.. Granger..amended his motion wherein the plan..wou.1d go into effect after an <br /> agreement was reached by the. Payroll Department and the City Manager. Motion carried. <br /> W. C. BROOKS REQUEST PERMISSION TO CEMENT PARKWAY AT 1175 -►79 KING STREET. City Engineer <br /> recommended against this as it has always been contrary to City policy to allow parkways <br /> to be filled in with concrete in residential area, unless in front of public buildings, <br />
