29 • <br /> If the recommendations are approved, the Mayor stated that committees will be appointed <br /> on the basis of: <br /> 1. Necessity and desirability of each project. <br /> 2. Means of financing, utilizing existing funds <br /> where possible consistent with sound financial <br /> thinking. <br /> 3. If approved by committee, when project should <br /> be started. <br /> 1 Report back to the Council in 30 days in order <br /> to get approved projects started this year if <br /> possible. <br /> In conclusion, Mayor Herkner expressed his appreciation for the cooperation and support <br /> of the entire council during the year just ended, and his hopes for the coming year. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that the recommendations of the Mayor be approved, and that <br /> he appoint committees to handle each project, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> Mayor Herkner appointed committees as follows: <br /> Water Department Improvements <br /> Chairman Councilman Royer <br /> Councilman Stout <br /> Reservoir <br /> Chairman Councilman Granger <br /> Councilman Britschgi <br /> Councilman Spillers <br /> Police Building <br /> Chairman Councilman Spillers <br /> Councilman Granger <br /> Councilman Jones <br /> Police Captain Wm. Faulstich <br /> Yacht Harbor Committee <br /> Chairman Councilman Britschgi <br /> Councilman Royer <br /> Councilman Stout <br /> Parking District Committee <br /> Chairman Councilman Jones <br /> Councilman Britschgi <br /> Councilman Stout <br /> Mayor Herkner also cancelled all outstanding Council committees and appointed new ones <br /> where necessary to become active as follows: <br /> Mayor's Advisory Committee Garbage Disposal - City Dump <br /> Britschgi - Granger Stout - Britschgi <br /> Civil Defense Library <br /> Sidney D. Herkner - Floyd Granger Stout - Jones <br /> War Memorial Building Real Estate (Consolidate Hawes Park Exch.) <br /> Floyd Granger Royer - Spillers - Stout <br /> Air Pollution - Smog Sign Ordinance <br /> Royer - Jones - Stout Royer - Spillers <br /> Civil Service Weed Abatement <br /> Stout - Royer Britschgi- Balzarini <br /> E. A. Rolison <br /> Chamber of Commerce, Public Relations Youth Center <br /> Royer - Britschgi Stout <br /> Tree Advisory Committee is not a Council committee and its duties should be handled by <br /> City Manager and his staff. The Mayor informed that the City Manager is now considering <br /> the 1955 -56 Budget, and that every effort should be made to keep operating costs down in <br /> order to prevent a sizeable increase in the tax rate. <br /> AUTHORIZE CITY CLERK ACCEPT DEED FROM MESSIAH UNITED LUTHERAN CHURCH FOR WIDENING OF VALOTA <br /> ROAD. City Manager Rolison recommended acceptance of this deed, so moved by Councilman <br /> Royer, seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. <br />
