City of San Bruno Update: Jim Ruane, Mayor of the City of San Bruno and Aaron Aknin,
Community Development Director.
Mayor Ruane thanked the Council and City staff for supporting them in a time of need.
He presented a proclamation to Mayor Ira memorializing their gratitude. Mayor Ira
thanked Mr. Ruane for the kind words explaining that Redwood City respects what they
are doing and wishes them the best of luck.
Mayor Ira asked Council Member Foust to handle an unscheduled Special Order of the
Day. Ms. Pat Dixon, a long time resident of Redwood City, was honored and presented
with a bouquet of yellow tulips. Ms. Dixon will be leaving the area shortly and Council
Member Foust on behalf of the Council wanted to show their appreciation. She was
presented with a proclamation from the City Council that described her extreme
volunteerism. Ms. Dixon thanked the Council for this honor.
6. PUBLIC COMMENT AND CONSENT CALENDAR
Michael Bautista spoke about two appeals and he believes that he will need to continue
bringing this to the attention of the City Council. He then spoke about the General Plan
and he believes City staff modified the Plan without the Council's concurrence.
Plamen Koer said that he and his fiancee are building a house in Woodside that is
adjacent to Canada College and they are having difficulty in obtaining needed water
service from the City of Redwood City. He opined that certain requirements by
Redwood City cause an unbearable financial burden for their young family. The
requirements include installation and payment for an 8 -inch pipeline versus smaller
pipelines, hundreds of extra feet of water line to only serve them on their private
property, and the encroachment fee when they are not located in Redwood City. He
asked Council for help and submitted a letter with technical information as well as
samples of the pipes (on file).
Mayor Ira acknowledged that they have his contact information for follow -up by staff.
M/S Foust/Aguirre to approve the Consent Calendar.
Dr. Bell said item 6.1 C had the incorrect title and that it should read "General" Services
agreement instead of Professional Services agreement.
