6.1.C. - Page 1
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From the City Manager
April 25, 2011
SUBJECT
Amendment Number 3 to Agreement with Bottomley Associates for Urban Design and
Planning Consultant Services for the Stanford in Redwood City Project
RECOMMENDATION
Approve Amendment Number 3 to Agreement with Bottomley Associates to complete
the preparation of the Stanford in Redwood City Precise Plan.
BACKGROUND
On July 20, 2008 the City executed an agreement with Bottomley Associates for
assistance with the preparation of a Precise Plan for the Stanford in Redwood City
project. The original agreement with Bottomley Associates for $40,120 was executed by
the City Manager because it was under $60,000.
On August 24, 2009, Bottomley Associates requested a $27,030 amendment to their
contract followed by an additional amendment in year 2010 for $21,550. Both
amendments were approved by the City Council.
Bottomley and Associates is now requesting a third amendment to their scope of
services valued at $39,074 which would bring the total cost of services to $127,774. The
amendment will cover costs that were unanticipated in the original scope of work
including attendance and preparation for approximately six additional meetings with
stakeholders, staff and the applicant, a Planning Commission Study Session and
changes to the Precise Plan which came as a direct result of the EIR process, including
traffic, circulation and utilities.
Stanford University has agreed to submit additional funds to cover this expense. It is
anticipated that the Draft Stanford Precise Plan will be released for public review in
early summer and forthcoming for Council consideration later this year.
ALTERNATIVES
Do not authorize execution of Amendment Number 3 to Agreement with Bottomley and
Associates.
