6.3.C. - Page 4 <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> AUTHORIZING CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE CITY/ COUNTY <br /> ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENTS OF SAN MATEO COUNTY (C/CAG), <br /> APPROVING THEJOINT POWERSAGREEMENTANDAUTHORIZING THECITY <br /> MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT <br /> WHEREAS, the City/ County Association of Governments of San Mateo County <br /> (C/CAG) was formed as a joint powers agency to deal with county-wide issues and <br /> concerns that affect the quality of life in general; transportation, air quality, stormwater <br /> runoff, hazardous waste, solid waste and recycling, land use near airports, and abandoned <br /> vehicle abatement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City has been a member of C/CAG since its <br /> inception in 1991; and <br /> WHEREAS, C/CAG has achieved significant accomplishments including the <br /> passage of the Measure M Fee which will provide $165M over 25 years of which $82.5M <br /> goes to the cities within San Mateo County (County) as well as the County; and <br /> WHEREAS, C/CAG has received numerous County, Regional, State and National <br /> awards for its programs; and <br /> WHEREAS, C/CAG provides programs to address State mandates in a cost <br /> effective manner; and <br /> WHEREAS, participation in C/CAG provides the City of Redwood City a voice in the <br /> programming of over $40-60M in transportation funds; and <br /> WHEREAS, in 2007, the City of Redwood City approved and executed the current <br /> existing C/CAG Joint Powers Agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, the existing C/CAG Joint Powers Agreement is scheduled to expire on <br /> December 31, 2011; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Redwood City desires to continue participation in C/CAG, <br /> and desires to enter into the proposed C/CAG Joint Powers Agreement Continuing <br /> Establishment of the City/County Association of Governments, attached hereto as <br /> Exh i b it A. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br /> OF REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br /> ATTY/RES0.2133/CCAG APPROVING JOINT POWERS AGREE <br /> 051911 <br />
