7.A- <br />REPORT <br />August 11, 2003 <br />y <br />ztir <br />Subject <br />Adoption of 2003/04 Budget Ordinance <br />RecomrnendefJon <br />Introduce an ordinance adopting the 2003/04 budget. <br />Background <br />On June 30 and July 14, 2003, the City Council conducted budget study sessions to <br />review the recommended amendments to the 2003/04 budget. The Council accepted the <br />recommended amendments as presented. Accordingly, the ordinance implementing the <br />attached 2003/04 amended budget is submitted for your approval. <br />The budget reviewed and approved on July 14, 2003 was the culmination of many Council <br />actions beginning on July 22, 2002 when the 2002/03 and 2003/04 budgets were first <br />presented to Council at the beginning of the two -year budget cycle. The following is a <br />chronology of events in which the Council either acted upon or was provided information <br />concerning the 2003/04 budget: <br />• July 22, 2002 - A budget study session was held at which Council reviewed the <br />2002/03 and 2003/04 budgets. <br />• July 29, 2002 — A second budget study session was held at which Council reviewed <br />follow -up items from the July 22, 2002 budget study session. <br />• August 5, 2002 - The Council adopted the 2002/03 budget by ordinance and <br />conceptually approved the 2003/04 budget. <br />• April 28, 2003 - The Community Development Block Grant budget was presented to <br />and approved by Council. <br />• June 30 and July 14, 2003 - Study sessions on the 2003/04 proposed budget <br />amendments were held. At the July 14 study session, the Council conceptually <br />approved the proposed amendments to the 2003/04 budget. <br />A copy of the proposed 2003/04 budget amendments has been sent to council members <br />and is on file at the Office of the City Clerk. <br />Council - Directed Changes <br />There were no Council- directed changes. <br />
