6.8-15
NON - DISCRETIONARY PERMIT APPLICATION
FOR LARGE FAMILY DAY CARE
DEFINITION
"Large Family Child Care Home means a home that provides family child care for up
to 12 children, or for up to 14 children if certain criteria (defined in California Health
and Safety Code Section 1597.465) are met. These capacities include children under
the age of 10 who live in the licensee's and the assistant provider's children
under the age 10."
CONDITIONS OF APPROVAL
Pursuant to Article 2 of the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance and to the California
Health and Safety Code Section 1596.70, a permit for a large family day care home is
approved under the following conditions:
The provider has secured a large family day care home license from the State of
California, Department of Social Services. (Community Care Licensing can be
contacted at (650) 266 - 8843). The applicant shall provide proof of such license to
the Planning and Redevelopment Division within 90 days of approval of this permit
by the Planning and Redevelopment Division. If the license is revoked for any
reason, the applicant shall immediately notify the Planning and Redevelopment
Division.
2. The facility is the residence of the provider and the use is clearly incidental and
secondary to the use of the property for residential purposes.
3. No structural changes are proposed which will alter the character of the single -
family or multi - family residence.
4. Provisions have been made to provide, at a minimum, one off - street parking space
per employee of driving age not living in the home. The residential driveway
approach is acceptable if the parking space will not conflict with any required child
drop -off/pick -up area and does not block the public sidewalk or right -of -way.
