q.1 b-
REPORT
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
From tote City Manager
August 25, 2003
Subject
Acceptance of Grant of Public Service Easement
Kaiser Permanente —1150 Veterans Boulevard
Recommendation:
Direct the City Clerk, by motion, to accept on behalf of the City, the Public Service Easement
offered by Kaiser Permanente, pursuant to Resolution No. 10944, adopted December 5, 1988,
and to record a certified copy of the Resolution and Order with the deed in the office of the
County Recorder of San Mateo County.
Background
Kaiser Permanente is constructing an additional 6" water service line and a 10" fire service line
on Maple Street, to provide a secondary/back -up service to the Hospital.
Due to a conflict of utilities, the meter facilities will have to be located approximately 20' inside
Kaiser's property, instead of being at the property line. According to the City Standards, the
City will maintain water mains and services up to and including the domestic meter and detector
meter. Therefore, in order to access these pipes for repair and replacement purposes, a public
service easement is needed. Kaiser is dedicating the public service easement for City access
and maintenance of the facilities.
Kaiser Permanente has submitted the deed and legal description for the public service
easement, prepared by Sandis Humber Jones. Staff recommends the acceptance of the deed
by City Council.
Fiscal Impacts
There are no fiscal impacts to the City by this action
Phong Du Bruce Liedstrand
Senior Civil Engineer Community Development Services Director
Ed Everett
City Manager
PDU ss
s /library/reports /phongAcceptance_Grant of Pub Svc—Kaiser
