He stated that Redwood City is one of the leaders on the Peninsula in keeping the economy solid. Tom Cronin, speaking as a CityTrees board member, stated that the organization is an all volunteer non - profit organization based in Redwood City dedicated to planting and maintaining trees in the city and educating the public about the benefits of the urban forest. He stated that on August 20 at 7:00 p.m. at Stafford Park during the intermission of Music at the Park, celebration of the planting of the 1,000 tree planted in 1,000 days. Rudy Luca presented a letter to Council from Mayor Claire requesting questions related to agenda items be asked of the contact person in advance of the Council meeting. Mayor Claire explained that standard operating procedure in most governmental bodies and most private sector companies to use the Consent Calendar process. The established procedure in Redwood City has been that if Council Members or members of the public have a question on any item on the Consent Calendar the question is asked of the staff member prior to the Council meeting. If after the response there are still questions remaining, they may ask for the item to be removed and /or discussed. Nancy Terranova thanked Council for the time stating she lives near downtown and is asking for action regarding the Tour de Peninsula that began at Sequoia High School on Sunday, August 3. She stated that at 7:10 a.m. she was awakened by a public address system well in excess of 90 decibels, and although a permit had been approved, the noise ordinance states that if over 6 decibels above the ambient regular noise levels, it may not be exceeded prior to 8:00 a.m. She asked that a written reply would.be appreciated. 6. CONSENT CALENDAR Items on the Consent Calendar are considered to be routine by the City Council and are be enacted by one motion and one vote. Rudy Luca asked about item 6.1.E. — HSFA funding agreements — who is funding and what the amount of assets is. Item 6.1.J. — Construction and Reimbursement agreement - asked who is paying the cost . Item 6.3.A. — whether the amendments still will not be clearly explained on the ballot. David Valkanaar commended staff for achieving State support with the project and getting it done in these hard times for the Route 101 /Ralston Avenue Interchange Improvements.
