q: A 5q GENER U INFORMATION CONCERNING riE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY The City of Redwood City (the "City") is located in the Bay Area 25 miles south of San Francisco. It is the oldest bayside city in San Mateo County (the "County"), incorporated in 1867, and has been the County Seat since 1856. The City combines residential, industrial, and commercial elements In a largely urban environment Its waterfront provides a yacht harbor and the only deep -water port in the South Bay. A wide variety of housing types are available. Services and trade, the County's two largest industry divisions, are expected to provide close to two- thirds of anticipated growth in the next two years. Municipal Government , The City Council consists of seven members, elected by the voters of the City to staggered terms of four years each. The City Council is the only body elected directly by the residents of Redwood City. As the legislative branch of the government, it makes final decisions on all major city matters. The Council adopts ordinances and resolutions necessary for efficient governmental operations, approves the budget, and acts as a board of appeals. It appoints the City Manager, City Attorney, and City Clerk and also most members of the City's boards, committees and commissions.
