6.2.B. - Page 1
To the Honorable Mayor and City Cou nci I
From the City Manager
J u ne 13, 2011
SUBJECT
Final Acceptance — Reroof of Veteran's Memorial Senior Center Project
RECOMMENDATION
Accept, by motion, the Reroof of Veteran's Memorial Senior Center Project and
authorize the release of bonds and retention according to city procedures.
BAC KG RO U N D
On March 21, 2011, Council awarded the construction contract for the Reroof of
Veteran's Memorial Senior Center Proect to IMR Contractor Corporation of Hayward for
the amount of $150,000.00. This reroofing project consisted of replacing the existing
wood shakes with new energy saving solar asphalt shingles. It was the city's first "cool
roof" project pursuant to the recently adopted Green Building Code. "Cool roof"
technology, coupled with additional venting reduces the cooling requirement of the
facility and thereby reduces energy consumption.
The project has been completed per contract and there were no change orders issued.
ALTERNATIVES
Council may choose not to accept the project or authorize the release of bonds and
retention which would be contrary to the terms of the contract and prior Council action.
FISCAL IMPACT
Sufficient funding for this project was previously appropriated from the Capital Proects
Fund— Roof and HVAC Program.
ATTAC H M E N TS
None
.
CHU CHANG, PE, LEED AP
ENGINEERING&TRANSPORTATION MANAGER
ROBERT B.
