STAFF REPORT A. Information only presentation by Recology San Mateo County to provide an update on the transition to new recycling and solid waste collection services. Mr. Evan Boyd, Public Works Director, spoke about the recent major transition from Allied Waste to Recology, and how a transition of this size (with just under 100,000 residential accounts, at three levels of services, or about three thousand levels of service opportunities in a week), has not been seen in the industry in years. He recognized service issues that some have experienced due to the transition. He noted that they are one week post-transition and they are working on these issues. This transition had to be done overnight, without any opportunity for a phased transition. He said that Recology is doing their best to deal with and mitigate any issues on a continuous basis. He opined that Recology has done a good job in dealing with these matters. Mayor Ira asked Mr. Boyd about transition issues regardless of the service provider.
