She referred to the issue in San Antonio <br />and the skin disease from recycled water topic published in a peer reviewed <br />medical journal in Australia and other examples. She submitted a letter from her <br />obstetrician who said she should not be exposed to recycled water because it <br />would endanger the life of the patient as well as the fetus. <br />_ Dr. Atkinson -Barr asked if Council had reviewed his answers. He stated that the <br />speakers were contemptuous and as a professional, he was shocked by the poor <br />standard of the opinion put before the Council. He further stated that the data he <br />has seen suggests that recycled water is not safe and the evidence has been cast <br />in such a way to make it look safe. He stated he would never allow his child to play <br />on grounds irrigated with recycled water. He pointed out an error in calculations <br />presented by Dr. Deresinski. <br />Carol Shelton, a Gossamer Village resident, stated that although a number of <br />experts have testified that there are no health risks with recycled water, the <br />California Department of Health Services has a number of incidences shown on <br />their website where people have gotten sick from recycled water. She detailed <br />some of her personal health and safety habits. She stated that she is very cautious <br />in her life and does not want to be forced due to her landscaping situation to have <br />something come onto her property given that she prefers to live more safe than <br />sorry. She stated that the feasibility study does not look at the entire city limits and <br />it would have been fairer to study the entire city. She detailed how 2,000 acre feet <br />can be found using no homes, no schools, no parks and is a feasible project.
