<br />5.2 C' \ <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />January 10, 2005 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - 2003-2004 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Accept the 2003-2004 Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project, and authorize the release of <br />payment bond and retention. <br /> <br />Background <br />As part of the continuous Roadway Improvement Program, approximately 225,000 <br />square yards of roadway was resurfaced with Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal this year. <br /> <br />On June 28, 2004, the City Council awarded the construction contract for 2003-2004 <br />Asphalt Rubber Chip Seal Project to Western States Surfacing, Inc. of Modesto, <br />California, for their low bid of $691,761.36. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications. One change order was issued for a credit in the amount of $2,534.27 <br />(represents 4% of the original bid price) for a total project cost of $689,227.09. This <br />change order was for the adjustment of quantities. (See attached Summary of Streets) <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Do not accept the project, which would be contrary to prior action. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impacts <br />Funds in the amount of $800,000 were appropriated in the 2004-2005 Capital <br />Improvement Program budget as part of the Gas Tax Construction and Transportation <br />(Measure "A") Funds for the Roadway Management System Program.
