IN GENERAL <br /> <br />Sec. 41.1.1. TITLE: This Chapter shall be known as the "Floodplain <br />Management Ordinance of the City of Redwood City." <br /> <br />Sec. 41.1.2. STATUTORY AUTHORIZATION: The Legislature of the <br />State of California has in Government Code Sections 65302, 65560 and 65800 <br />conferred upon local government authority to adopt regulations designed to promote the <br />public health, safety and general welfare of its citizenry. Therefore, the City Council of <br />the City of Redwood City does hereby adopt the following floodplain management <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Sec. 41.1.3. <br /> <br />A. <br /> <br />B. <br /> <br />Atty/Ord/Ord.223 <br />102704 <br /> <br />FINDINGS OF FACT: <br /> <br />The flood hazard areas of Redwood City are subject to periodic inundation <br />which results in the loss of life and property, health and safety hazards, <br />disruption of commerce and governmental services, extraordinary public <br />expenditures for flood protection and relief and impairment of the tax base, <br />all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare. <br />These flood losses are caused by uses that are inadequately elevated, <br />flood-proofed, or protected from flood damage.
