Beginning March 1, 2005, counties and <br />cities are directed to send their plan proposals to <br />California Native American tribes that are on the <br />Native American Heritage Commission's contact list, <br />if the tribes have traditional lands within the county <br />or city. Also starting on March 1, counties and <br />cities must allow tribes to request a consultation <br />with local officials before a general plan or specific <br />plan is adopted or amended. <br /> <br />Since enactment of the bill a number of city <br />attorneys have offered technical advice to the <br />League and CPR on issues associated with creat- <br />ing draft guidelines. <br /> <br />OPR Workshop February 25 <br /> <br />Following the release of the draft General Plan <br />Guidelines on February 21, OPR will hold a work- <br />shop on the draft changes at 9:30 a.m., February <br />25, at the California State Association of Counties <br />Board Room, 1020 K Street, Sacramento.
