�ip- � <br /> REPOI � T <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> And the Red�velopment /�gency Board from <br /> The City Manager and Executive Director <br /> May 9, 2005 <br /> Subject <br /> Award of Contract — Veterans Boulevard/Middlefieid Road Traffic Signal Project <br /> Recommendation <br /> Approve the Contract Documents and authorize the award of contract for the Veterans <br /> Boulevard/Middlefield Road Traffic Signal Project to the lowest responsible bidder, St. <br /> Francis Electric Company, of San Leandro, Califomia, for the amount of $166,845.00. <br /> Background <br /> The installation of a new tra�c signal system at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard <br /> and Middlefield Road (future Theatre Way) was identified as a Traffic Impact Mitigation <br /> Fee Project, and has been adopted under the Capital Improvement Program. Traffic <br /> impact fee revenue was allocated for this project, and will partially fund this <br /> improvement. <br /> This traffic signal project was also identified as a required traffic mitigation measure in <br /> the Environmental Impact Report for the On Broadway Retail/Cinema Developm�nt. <br /> The project is part of the Downtown Funding Plan that was previously approved by the <br /> Redevelopment Agency Board. Redevelopment Capital Improvement Program Funds <br /> from the Agency's Bond proceeds have been allocated to complete the funding of this <br /> project. The completion of the new signal is expected before the opening of the On <br /> Broadway Development. <br /> On Wednesday, April 27, 2005, four (4) bids were received. The <br /> low bid of $166,845.00 is considered a go�d and responsive bid. <br />
