SubJect
Acceptance of Improvements — Blomquist Street /East Bayshore Road Realignment —
(Pacific Shores Center)
Recommendation
Accept the Improvements for the Blomquist Street/East Bayshore Road Realignment
Project, and return the Performance and Labor & Materials Bonds, upon filing of .the
one-year Maintenance Bond in the amount of $136,500, per paragraph 8 of the
Improvement Agreement.
Background
On October 12, 2000, the City Council approved the Improvement Agreement for the
Blomquist Street/East Bayshore Road Realignment Project. This project was the last
step in the Tentative Map approval process and the Planned Development Permit for
the Pacific Shores Center Subdivision (the approximately 106 acre commercial
development at the end of Seaport Boulevard).
One of the Conditions of Approval for this development was the realignment of East
Bayshore Road to Blomquist Street. This work included not only the creation of the
new four-way, signalized intersection, but it also added a right-turn lane from Blomquist
Street onto Seaport Boulevard. The construction of this right-turn lane was very
complicated, due to the additional signalization and track work in the Union Pacific
Railroad right-of-way. Further complicating the installation of the right-turn lane, was
the need to obtain a right-of-entry agreement with Lyngso Corporation, owners of the
property adjacent to the railroad.
The developer, Pacific Shores Development, LLC, has completed all the work to the
satisfaction of Engineering and Construction. The developer was required to post
Faithful Performance and Payment Bonds, each in the amount of $1,365,000. The
Maintenance Bond is 10% of each of these bonds.
Fiscal Impacts
There are no fiscal impacts to the City. All funds for the ro dw ,,improvements are
b ing provided the developer, Pacific Shores Development, L /

iJ n K.
