�,��- i <br /> � R�PORT <br /> To tf�� �1c�cner�b�� M��or �nd Cit� Council <br /> F�o�� the Ci Mana er <br /> May 9, 2005 <br /> Subject <br /> Final Acceptance - 2003 Watermain Replacement Project <br /> Recommendation <br /> Accept the 2003 Watermain Replacement Project, and authorize the release of bonds <br /> and retention. <br /> Background <br /> On January 12, 2004, the City Council awarded the construction contract for the 2003 <br /> Watermain Replacement Project to JMB Construction, Inc. of San Francisco, California, <br /> for the amount of $1,427,670.00. <br /> Every year the City undertakes a watermain replacement program funded by the <br /> Capital Improvement Program Water Fund. This program is designed for systematically <br /> replacing water distribution system main lines, which have a history of service <br /> disruptions due to age, excessive maintenance requirements, insufficient fire protection, <br /> and/or capacity limitations. A priority list is reviewed and updated annually by the City's <br /> Engineering & Construction Services, and the Public Works Services Department, to <br /> determine the priority areas to be included in the program each year. This year's <br /> program included the replacement of nearly two and a half (2.5) miles of watermain in <br /> eight (8) phases. <br /> This $1.5 million project was designed by the City's Engineering Staff, and the <br /> construction administrated by Assistant Engineer, Tonia Tabucchi. <br /> The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br /> specifications for a total cost of $1,438,334.52.
