�,� Cj- � <br /> � REPOR T � . <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Councii <br /> _ F'rom the City Manager', <br /> May 9, 2005 <br /> Subject <br /> Finai Acceptance — 2003-2004 Storm Drain Improvements Project <br /> Recommendation <br /> Accept the 2003-2004 Storm Drain Improvements Project, and authorize the release of <br /> retention. <br /> Background <br /> In an effort to improve the City of Redwood City's storm drainage system, Engineering <br /> and Construction (in coordination with Public Works Services) began a series of <br /> investigations to identify, evaluate and analyze the condition of the existing <br /> siphon/bubble-up storm drain catch basins/inlets in different !ocations within Redwood <br /> City. <br /> After careful studies, the problem areas were identified and divided into seven (7) <br /> priority sections in various locations. This project was the first priority sect�on area <br /> needing immediate attention, among the seven identified priority areas. This project <br /> improved the drainage system along Fifth Avenue, Page Street, and 8�' Avenue, which <br /> are situated in the Friendly Acres Neighborhood. <br /> The improvements included the furnishing and installation of new storm drain pipes, <br /> fittings and appurtenances; furnishing and installation of new storm drain manholes, <br /> replacement and instatlation of new combination curb/grate inlets, and other associated <br /> work. <br /> City Council awarded this contract to JMB Construction, Inc. of San Francisco, <br /> California, March 22, 2004, for an amount of $ 448,930.00. One change Order was <br /> issued for a total amount of $5,000.00, which represents 1.11 % of the original bid price, <br /> for a revised total contract amount of $453,930.00 <br /> All work was completed in conformance with the Contract Documents, and to the <br /> satisfaction of Engineering & Construction Services. <br /> Alternative <br /> Do not accept the 2003-2004 Storm Drain Improvements Project, which would be <br /> contrary to prior Council action. <br /> Page 1 of 2 <br />
