 3- z
The Home Owners Associations for The Shore at Califomia Bayside and for California
Seacrest (two immediately adjacent subdivisions) have both expressed written support
for the 4-way stops. The Redwood Shores Community Association's Executive
Committee decided to defer to the individual homeowners associations immediately
adjacent to the intersection. The Redwood Shores Owners Association Board of
. Directors provided a letter stating no objections to the stop sign installation.
Notices announcing that the stop signs would be recommended to the City Council for
approval at this meeting were sent to the immediately adjacent homeowners
associations, the Redwood Shores Community Association, and the Redwood Shores
Owners Association.
Alternative
Do not install the proposed stop signs on Shearwater Parkway. Place some type of
warning signs near the intersection, which would not provide the clear right-of-way
assignment benefits for pedestrians and for drivers on the Canvasback Way and St.
Lucia Drive approaches that 4-way stop signs would provide.
Fiscal lmpact
The total cost for installation of multiple stop signs with associated pavement markings
and warning signs to safely control the four lanes on Shearwater Parkway is estimated
at $4,000. Funds for this project are available in the 2004-05 Capital Improvement
Program budget in the Neighborhood Traffic Calming Program. Minor maintenance
costs will be incurred in future years.
,
Richard K.
