<br />Education <br /> <br />Public education instruction in the elementary grades is provided by the Redwood City <br />Elementary School District, which operates 17 elementary and intermediate schools, serving <br />approximately 8,700 students in the City. Sequoia Union High School District, in addition to <br />administrative offices, operates a high school, a continuation school and an adult school, serving <br />approximately 1,500 students within the City limits. <br /> <br />Post-secondary public education is available at three community college campuses <br />operated by the San Mateo County Community College District. Aggregate enrollment in the <br />College of San Mateo in the City of San Mateo, Canada College in the City, and Skyline College in <br />the City of San Bruno was approximately 28,900 in 2002. <br /> <br />Within less than an hour's drive of the City are San Francisco State University, University <br />of San Francisco, Stanford University, the University of Santa Clara, Hayward State University, <br />University of California at Berkeley and San Jose State University. <br /> <br />Public Safety <br /> <br />The Redwood City Police Department has 94 law enforcement officers, 9 community <br />service officers and 12 communication dispatchers.
