<br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the City Manager <br /> <br />January 24, 2005 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Redwood City Recycled Water Project - Production and Delivery of Recycled Water <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By Motion approve award of contract by the South Bayside System Authority (SBSA) <br />Commission for the Redwood City Recycled Water Project, Phase 1, SBSA Facilities <br />Project - Disinfection, ,Storage, and Pumping, pursuant to the recently-approved <br />Agreement for Production and Delivery of Recycled Water ("Agreement") between the <br />South Bayside System Authority and the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Background <br />On October 25, 2004 the City Council approved engineering plans and specifications titled <br />Redwood City Recycled Water Project, Phase 1, Plans for the construction of SBSA <br />Facilities Project - Disinfection, Storage, and Pumping, and requested that the SBSA <br />Commission approve aforementioned plans and specifications and authorize the call for <br />bids. The Commission subsequently approved the plans and the project was dully <br />advertised. The original bid date of Dec. 20,2004 was extended to January 20,2005, to <br />allow interested firms more time to compile their bids, in light of an exceptional number of <br />large public agency bids in the region that were due in mid-December. At this juncture, the <br />SBSA project team anticipates receipt of multiple responsible bids on January 20, the <br />results of which staff will report to the Council on January 24. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Provide alternative direction. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />Earlier this evening, the City Council approved the Water Financing Plan - 2004 Update for <br />the recycled water project and authorized staff to proceed with the arrangements to secure <br />financing for this project.
