For more see <br />page 2. <br /> <br />................................ <br /> <br />GOVERNOR ENTERS PENSION REFORM DEBATE <br />LEAGUE TASK FORCE TO ANAL VIE PENSION REFORM OPTIONS <br /> <br />Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger jumped into the middle ofthe pension <br />reform debate last week by announcing an ambitious reform plan in conjunc- <br />tion with the release of his proposed FY 2005-06 state budget. <br /> <br />The govemor's plan proposes that, once state employee contracts are up <br />for renewal, the employees will assume 50% of all retirement costs to equal- <br />ize the employee and employer share of the annual contribution to CaIPERS. <br />The administration estimates that this change would save the state general <br />fund $206 million in FY 2005-06.
