6.1.C. - Page 11 <br />Policy PS -2.5: Encourage the development and /or implementation of new <br />technologies that address or mitigate pollutant emissions at the <br />Port, transportation facilities, and industrial use locations. <br />Policy PS -2.6: Require all land uses proposed within 500 feet of U.S. 101, El <br />Camino Real, and Woodside Road that will house, <br />accommodate, or serve sensitive receptors to incorporate <br />appropriate design and construction features (e.g., filters on <br />HVAC systems) that reduce potential exposure of persons to <br />pollutants. <br />Policy PS -2.7: Discourage the establishment of any new school or housing for <br />senior residents within 500 feet of a freeway. <br />GOAL PS - 3: Reduce the volume of pollutants generated by motorized vehicles. <br />� F' Policy PS -3.1: Support programs that increase ridesharing, reduce pollutants <br />' Sustainability Focus generated by vehicle use, and meet the transportation control <br />measures recommended by BAAQMD in the most recent Clean <br />Air Plan. <br />Policy PS -3.2: Support programs that decrease vehicle emissions by increasing <br />Sustainability Focus the number of housing units located near jobs and transit, and <br />encouraging commuting via transit, walking, and bicycling; <br />thereby decreasing vehicle miles traveled (VMT). <br />Policy PS -3.3: Implement policies of the Built Environment Element that <br />Sustainability FOCUS provide for compact, urban -style forms of development and <br />complete streets and neighborhoods to reduce vehicle <br />emissions by placing residents closer to jobs and services and <br />providing alternative modes of transportation. <br />?"
