6.1.C. - Page 15 <br />Massachusetts Ave Crosswalk In- Roadway Warning Light System— Measure A <br />Installation of in- pavement crosswalk warning light system and coordinated flashing <br />signs adjacent to Henry Ford School to improve safety for children walking to school; <br />Realignment of existing crosswalk to minimize crossing length; <br />Installation of raised curb median to provide a pedestrian refuge area; <br />Installation of curb bulb -outs with ADA- compliant ramps; and <br />Repainting of crosswalk and pavement markings as needed. <br />When the improvements with these three grants are completed, pedestrian and bicycle <br />usage will be safer in the project areas, which include areas around a number of our <br />schools and on the routes to them.
