6.1.13. - Page 37 <br />TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION (SEIU) LOCAL 521 <br />or <br />Any two (2) certifications listed in <br />art B. <br />Employees may qualify for only one category (A, B. OR C1 at any given time. <br />ARTICLE 16 - HOURS OF WORK, OVERTIME, PREMIUM PAY <br />16.1 Hours of Work <br />A. The regular workweek shall consist of forty (40) hours within a seven (7) <br />day workweek which begins Monday morning at 12:01 a.m., and ends <br />Sunday night at 11:59 p.m., and is usually five (5) consecutive days <br />served in units of eight (8) hours. <br />B. All workers shall be granted and take a rest period of fifteen (15) minutes <br />during each regularly scheduled four (4) hour work period. Rest periods <br />shall be considered as time worked for pay purposes. <br />C. The City and the Union agree that the availability of alternate /flexible work <br />schedules is a valuable benefit to workers in that they promote job <br />satisfaction while also reducing traffic congestion and air pollution. The <br />use of alternate /flexible schedules is encouraged where it can be <br />accommodated without impairing departmental operations or service to <br />the public. <br />D. The City may authorize an alternate work schedule (other than five eight - <br />hour days) or a flexible schedule (various work start and end times within <br />a scheduled work shift) requested by a worker or workgroup based on the <br />operating needs of the specific department or work unit. <br />E.
