<br />5.3A <br />Page 1 <br /> <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From the Ci Mana er <br /> <br />July 24, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Approval of Surface Transportation Program (STP) Application for resurfacing certain <br />designated streets in the City of Redwood City. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />Adopt a Resolution of Local Support approving the Application for STP funding for the <br />resurfacing of the Alameda de las Pulgas from Eaton Avenue to Woodside Road, and Bay <br />Road from Second Avenue to Marsh Road. <br /> <br />Background <br />The City of Redwood City is eligible to apply for STP Augmentation from the Metropolitan <br />Transportation Commission (MTC) for Pavement Maintenance and Rehabilitation of roads <br />in the Metropolitan Transportation System (MTS). With requests for funds, the MTC <br />requires that a Resolution approving the Application must be adopted by the City Council. <br />The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) will be the first to review the <br />application. Then MTC will evaluate all applications submitted from the different counties <br />within our District. <br /> <br />Based on the Pavement Management Program. staff recommends the resurfacing of the <br />above-mentioned streets. <br /> <br />Alternative <br />Do not approve the Application for the STP grant funds, which will leave the subject streets <br />in poor repair due to lack of funds. <br /> <br />Fiscal Impact <br />The City's cost estimate for the abovementioned streets is $1,800,000. The City' is eligible <br />for $900,000 of STP grant funds. <br /> <br />If the grant is received, funds for the resurfacing could be accommodated in a Capital <br />Improvement Program budget through gas tax funds (FY 200712008 Transportation Fund <br />and Gas Tax Fund). ~ <br /> <br />.-4 ..-.....
