MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Legislation (information only) - This sub-section involves possible discussion of <br /> City Position on Proposed Legislation described in the League of California <br /> Cities Priority Focus Bulletin No. 45-2004. Council Member Howard — stated that she has a C/CAG meeting on Thursday <br /> where discussion of transit oriented development monies available for cities <br /> developing transit oriented development within one third mile of a major <br /> transportation hub. Redwood City only has one hub and she stated she would <br /> continue to lobby for revising the one third mile requirement to at least a half mile <br /> or more to allow other cities to participate. <br /> C. Council Member Bain — stated that he had attended the swearing in of State <br /> Assembly Member Ira Ruskin in Sacramento. He stated that he also met with <br /> Council Members Foust and Howard about filling the Council vacancy and that <br /> the subcommittee expects to make a presentation on December 13 on some <br /> recommendations for a process to appoint a replacement. <br /> D. Vice Mayor Pierce — stated that ti�e yellow ribbons on the trees in front of City <br /> Hall were installed by Tiffany Teele and her husband as part of the Yellow Ribbon <br /> campaign going on nationwide from December 4 through January 4. Those <br /> wishing to participate were encouraged to place yellow ribbons inside windows. <br /> She thanked everyone who participated in the collection drive that proved very <br /> successful in providing items to be shipped to those serving in Iraq. Local Boy <br /> and Girl Scouts contributed over 400 cards to go with the supplies. Anyone <br /> wishing to participate in wrapping and shipping was asked to contact the City. <br /> 8.
