This project meets our
criteria for a well-designed, well-located development providing housing opportunities for people in the
community at a wide range of incomes. With its close proximity to Sequoia Station and location on El
Camino Real, Montgomery Villas is an excellent example of transit-oriented development.
In particular, we commend the developers' efforts to provide 58 affordable rental homes and 8 for-sale
townhomes for families with incomes at or below 50% of area median. The need for housing in this
income bracket is particularly acute for our community. Occupations in this bracket locally include such
positions as bank tellers, bank teller managers, license practical nurses, plumbers, administrative
assistants, childcare workers, and more.
The developer has also told us he is committed to quality construction and workmanship, which should
result in a development Redwood City can be proud of for years to come. The construction of the
development will contribute to economic development through the good jobs it will provide to local
workers.
The Housing Leadership Council, together with our nearly 80 member organizations, works to preserve
and expand the supply of adequate, accessible, and affordable housing for residents and workers of San
Mateo County. Montgomery Villas helps creates much-needed homes to meet the needs of our
community. We urge your support of the Montgomery Villas development.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely yours,
C'/'t 27
Christopher Mohr
Executive Director
cc: Geoffrey Morgan, First Community Housing, Inc.
Ed Hayes, Peninsula Habitat for Humanity
C:\Documents and SettingsUnriordan\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLKIOWLC Endorsement Letter.doc
