A-1
REPOR T
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council
March 22, 2004
Subject
Recycled Water Community Task Force Report
Recommendation
Accept the Recycled Water Task Force Report, and direct City staff to return to City
Council with implementation actions for consideration.
Background
On August 11, 2003, the City Council adopted a Memorandum setting forth the
conceptual proposal for a Community Task Force on Recycled Water.
The goal of the Recycled Water Task Force (the Task Force) is to identify 1,946 acre-
feet per year of potable water demand reductions by 2010, in a financially feasible
manner that avoids using recycled water at school yards, parks, and playgrounds.
The Task Force has achieved this goal, and unanimously makes the recommendations
as outlined in the Cxecutive Summary of the "Recycled Water Task Force Report".
A copy of the Recycled Water Tank Force Report is available for review in Engineering
& Construction Services and htto://www.redwoodcitv.ora/water/
Alternative
Do not accept the recommendations.
Fiscal Impacts
The cost estimate of the Task Force recommendations are $14,000 more than
Alternative "E", as approved by City Council in August 2003. Considering the margin
of error in the estimated $43,600,000 Capital cost for Alternative "E", the cost
difference is negligible.

Chu Chang Derby Davi son
Supervising Civil Engineer Recycled WaterTask Force Member
Mark McL ren
Recycled Water Task Force Member
JP/CHU'ss
s/library/reports/chWRecycled Water Task Foroe RepoR
