■ I.. ■ l S ■ ■ I I� _ .,q - � � CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ANNUAL ACTION PLAN �- FY 2004-2005 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY OF OBJECTIVES � PRIORITIES Mission Statement Redwood City's Mission Statement is to promote affordable housing by monitoring changing social needs in the communiry, and ensure that the needs of all income levels are given suf�cient considerarion in the approval of housing developments to provide: • diversity and balance of housing types and af�'ordability within all geographical locations, • affordability levels for all income groups and special needs populations "The Housing and Human Concerns Committee advocates and monitors the basic needs and housing jor the entire community, with a special focus on disadvantaged residents, by prvviding leadership and solutions through parmerships with community stakeholders and decision makers. STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION NEEDS, GOALS, & PRIORITIES: Redwood City has adopted priorities to implement this strategy as follows in the rank order that funds and assistance will be � targeted: 1. Increase the availability of affordable housing in decent, safe and sanitary condition. 2. Improve safety and livability of neighborhoods by focusing resources for public facilities & supportive services. 3. Promote economic growth through employment services, job training, business development and expansion which result in jobs for low income persons. The City of Redwood City is proposing to use CDBG and HOME funds during FY 2004-OS to meet basic Consolidated Plan Priorities as listed on the following pages of this Plan. The primary etnphasis during FY 2004-OS is to focus on basic human needs by targeting funding to supportive services, emergency assistance and intervention progams. The goal of these programs is to reduce poverty and prevent homelessness, and expand affordable housing opportunities for low income households.
