One ofthe three-yeargoals in the PFA
strategic plan is to "build community support for every chiid in San Mateo County to enter
school eager ta leam and prepared to succeed". A key performance measure to achieve
that goal is that "cities and school districts of the nine communities involved in collaborative
efforts will adopt resolutions in support of universai preschool".
Redwood City, along with the other cities, schools and public agencies listed below, has
been asked to provide a resolution of support. The three large cities were selected for
initial requests due to their leadership in preschool and child care activities as well as
city/school co!laboration. Resolutions will be requested of other cities. The Redwood
City School District has also received the request for a resolution.
1. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors
2. Peninsula Partnership Council/Peninsula Community Foundation
3. City of Daly City
4. City of San Mateo
5. San Mateo County Board of Education
6. San Mateo County Child Care Planning Council
7. San Mateo County Community College District Board
Alternative
The Council could choose to withhold endorsement of the Preschool for All initiative.
Fiscal Impact
None. Redwood City School District is interested in serving as a model for the
implementation of universal pre-school services which could mean that additional state and
local First 5 dollars would be directed to the benefit of the Redwood City community.
   . ✓
Kristen Anderson Corinne C nteno d Everett
Child Care Coordinator Director, Parks, Recreation City Manager
& Community Services
