GARDNER CENTER <br /> (Redwood City 2020) <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered in this - day of <br /> ,2004, by and between the COUNTY OF SAN MATEO, a political <br /> subdivision of the State of California ("County"); the CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, a <br /> charter city and municipal corporation of the State of California ("City"); REDWOOD <br /> CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, an elementary school district ("Elementary School District"); <br /> SEQUOIA UNION HIGH SCHOOL DISTRICT, a high school district ("High School <br /> District"); and JOHN W. GARDNER CENTER, a Stanford-based center ("Gardner <br /> Center"), all of which entities are referred to collectively as "the Parties." <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> WHEREAS, in 1995 the City, Elementary School District, High School District <br /> and County formed Redwood City 2020 (formerly known as Redwood City 2000) to <br /> provide oversight to multiple collaborative programs designed to improve the public <br /> health and quality of life in Redwood City and to provide a forum for collaborative needs <br /> assessment and community planning based on the National Civic League Healthy <br /> Communities Model, and; <br /> " ~ <br /> WHEREAS, each year, since the formation of Redwood City 2020, the City, <br /> Elementary School District, High School District and County have renewed the <br /> Redwood City 2020 partnership by formal agreement; and <br /> WHEREAS, in June 2003, the Gardner Center became a partner in Redwood <br /> City 2020; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Parties desire to renew the Redwood City 2020 formation <br /> agreement for Fiscal Year 2003/2004 and to establish procedures to extend the <br /> agreement by written amendment, in lieu of drafting a new agreement each year. <br /> NOW THEREFORE, IN CONSIDERATION OF THE MUTUAL COVENANTS <br /> AND CONDITIONS CONTAINED HEREIN, THE PARTIES AGREE AS FOLLOWS: <br /> 1. Purpose. The Parties are entering into this Agreement for the sole <br /> purpose of providing assistance to, and allowing the establishment of, Redwood City <br /> 2020. Redwood City 2020 exists for two major purposes: <br /> a.
