Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2004-05 for the Seaport
Centre Maintenance District;
2. Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2004-05 for the Seaport
Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District, and
3. Ordering the Levy of Benefit Assessments for FY 2004-05 for the Redwood
- Shores Landscape Maintenance District 1995-1.
Background
These three, relatively small Assessment Districts have annual assessments
amounting anywhere from $164,000 to $300,000. The Seaport Centre Maintenance
District and the Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance District were established
in 1987, and the Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District was formed in
1995. The Districts were formed to pay for the maintenance of facilities that were
determined to be above and beyond the normal level of maintenance that is required
in the rest of the City (Le., stormwater pump stations, sewage pump stations, levee
systems, and extra landscaping).
This is an annual authorization required to enable taxes to be levied and collected,
through the San Mateo County Tax Controller and Collector's Office. Both the
Seaport Centre Maintenance and the Seaport Boulevard Landscape Maintenance
Districts are in the fifth and final year of their approved budgets. New budgets will be
prepared (with the participation of the property owners) prior to next year's tax levy.
The new budgets will come before this Council for approval at that time. The
Redwood Shores Landscape Maintenance District was formed with an automatic
escalation clause based on labor costs. This year the minimum adjustment of 2% is
being applied.
"~
