III I. . <br /> <br /> .9A,\ <br /> REPfJRT. <br /> To the Honor.biit;;á , r'ldClty Council <br /> ',-- F~m thøCltyMànager <br /> May 10, 2004 <br /> Subject <br /> Introduction of an ordinance amending Sections 2,63.8., 2.65A.1., 2.65.C., 2.68.A., 2.72, 2.77, <br /> 2.77.A, and 2.80 of the Redwood City Municipal Code, Chapter 2, Article VII, Purchasing. <br /> Recommendation <br /> It is recommended that the City Council introduce an ordinance amending certain sections of the <br /> Redwood City Municipal Code, Chapter 2., Article VII, Purchasing, with respect to awarding <br /> contracts for public works and improvements to be in conformance with the recently amended <br /> Chapter 67 of the Redwood City Charter. <br /> Background <br /> On the ballot for the November 4, 2003, general municipal election was an amendment to Section <br /> 67 of the City Charter which required publicly advertised bids for all public works projects greater <br /> than or equal to $100,000. Additionally, all public works contracts less than $100,000 in value would <br /> be let by public bid without advertising. Prior to this amendment, all public works contracts over <br /> $20,000 in value required public bids with advertising. This amendment had been requested by City <br /> staff to eliminate the staff time and costs entailed in public bidding of small public works contracts. <br /> The electorate of Redwood City approved this charter amendment. <br /> .~ As a result of the Charter amendment, the attached ordinance is being recommended for <br /> introduction and adoption to implement the recent changes.
