I 6. <br /> I <br /> REPORT - <br /> To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br /> From #he City Manager <br /> July 26, 2004 <br /> Subject <br /> Purchase of Utility Systems Materials <br /> Recommendation <br /> By motion, authorize the purchase of utility systems materials from Roberts & Brune <br /> Co. of Redwood City, CA in the amount of $199,119.30 <br /> Background <br /> The Water and Wastewater Maintenance Divisions of the Public Works Services <br /> Department order large quantities of water and sanitary sewer materials for utility system <br /> repair and maintenance. (I.E. pipe, valves, fittings, meter and valve boxes). Both Divisions <br /> developed a list of the most commonly used materials, which will be needed during the <br /> new 2004/2005 Fiscal Year for the unit priced bid request. <br /> The City Clerk advertised the bid request with copies of the bid mailed directly to three <br /> local vendors. Two bids were received and opened by the City Clerk on Wednesday July 7, <br /> 2004 and are considered valid. <br /> The response to the bid request is summarized as follows: <br /> Roberts & Brune Co. Redwood City, CA $199,119.30 <br /> National Waterworks Santa Clara, CA $236,820.52 <br /> Kenko Utility Supply Co. San Jose, CA No Bid <br /> The low bidder was Roberts & Brune's of Redwood City in the amount of $199,119.30. <br /> Alternative <br /> The Council could choose not to authorize the purchase of materials, in which case staff <br /> would purchase on an "over-the-counter" basis, increasing the cost of materials. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> Funds for the purchase of the utility systems materials in the amount of $228,576 are <br /> available in the FY 2004/2005 Water and Wastewater Enterprise Funds operating budget. <br /> Ron Vairora Peter Ingram Ed Ev r tt <br /> Acting PW Superintendent Public Works ervices Director City Manager <br /> Attachment: <br /> Motion <br />
