<br /> RE.PORT .\ 8-1 <br /> To. the .HOIi()rabl.MaY~I"~~~City~O~~cU <br /> Frornthe;CltyManager <br /> January 26, 2004 <br /> Subject <br /> Surplus Property <br /> Recommendation <br /> Declare the Neopost foldinglinserting machine surplus and authorize the transfer of this <br /> machine to the Redwood City 2020 program. <br /> Background <br /> The Revenue Services Division of the Finance Department recently replaced its Neopost <br /> folding/inserting machine which had been in service for 6 years. This machine was used <br /> to mail out the utility bills for all Redwood City residences and businesses. <br /> Government code Section 37351 and Section 3.1/2 of the Charter of the City of Redwood <br /> City as amended, permits the sale of any City personal property having an appraised value <br /> five thousand dollars or less without public notice or public bid for any reasonable amount, <br /> irrespective of its appraised value. It also allows the City to dispose of surplus property no <br /> longer required or needed for present, prospective municipal or public purpose without <br /> sale. <br /> The Redwood City 2020 program will allow other non profits to use this machine for their <br /> mailings. <br /> Alternative <br /> Council may disregard this recommendation and direct staff to sell this equipment at the <br /> next scheduled auction of surplus equipment. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> Since this machine is over 6 years old it is likely that the City would receive only a small <br /> sum of money should it be sold at auction. <br /> 8~~~ [}rU <br /> ia I. del Rosario Ed Everett <br /> ior Accountant/Manager Director of Finance and City Manager <br /> Financial Planning <br />
