Recommendations That the City Council adopt a resolution which authorizes the City Manager's application for a Califomia Cultural and Historic Endowrnent grant in the amount of $2,076,799 to partially fund facade reconstruction of the historic San Mateo County Courthouse. This resolution requests the Redwood City Redevelopment Agency contribute, if necessary, matching funds and designates the City Manager or agent as the responsible party for negotiating, executing, accepting, and appropriating all CCHE grant related items. It is further recommended that the Redevelopment Agency Board adopt a resolution which authorizes, if required, funds not to exceed $2,076,799 to match the Califomia Cultural and Historic Endowment grant for the facade reconstruction of the historic San Mateo County Courthouse. Background The City submitted a grant application on September 30, 2004 to the Califomia Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE), a state agency established in 2002. The application requests a grant of approximately $2.08M to partially fund the reconstruction of the historic San Mateo Courthouse facade. The CCHE requires all grant participants to submit final and approved resolution(s) from their goveming board by November 1, 2004. The resolution(s) acknowledges that the grant applicant is applying for CCHE funding and that the applicant's goveming board will be obligated to fully support and assume responsibitity for project implementation. One of the main goals of CCHE is to create a competitive grant program for the purpose of sharing narrative events that relate Califomia's culture and history.
