<br /> 7C <br /> Page 6 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. <br /> RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE OF LUKE <br /> MODEL "PAY-BY -SPACE" PARKING METERS, MANUFACTURED BY <br /> DIGITAL PAYMENT TECHNOLOGIES, FOR AN AMOUNT OF $402,957 AND <br /> SUSPENDING THE REQUIREMENTS OF ARTICLE VII, PURCHASING, OF <br /> CHAPTER 2 OF THE MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO COMPETITIVE <br /> BIDDING FOR THIS PURCHASE <br /> WHEREAS, Downtown Redwood City is undergoing a dramatic revitalization; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City conducted several public workshops to understand the parking <br />needs of the Downtown community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council approved the Parking Management Plan on July 25, 2005 <br />in order to ensure efficient use of the public supply as parking demand rises and to meet the <br />needs of the Downtown community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Parking Management Plan recommended installing computerized "pay- <br />by-space" parking meters in the Downtown core in order to most effectively manage parking; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, staff developed a detailed set of required technical specifications that were <br />necessary in order for the meters to fully carry out the goals of the Parking Management Plan <br />and the needs of the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the specifications for the computerized "pay-by-space" parking meters that <br />the City seeks are of a unique nature and only available from Digital Payment Technologies; <br />and <br /> WHEREAS, only Digital Payment Technologies was able to meet these specifications <br />with a model that has been in use in an acceptable number of places for an acceptable length of <br />time. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE; BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />REDWOOD CITY AS FOLLOWS: <br />ATTYIRESO/RESO.1643 <br />081806 <br /> 1 <br /> - <br />
