<br />6.1C <br />Page 1 <br /> <br />REPORT <br /> <br />To the Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />and the Redevelopment Agency Board from <br />the Ci Mana er and Executive Director <br /> <br />November 13, 2006 <br /> <br />Subject <br />Final Acceptance - Procuring & Installing Parking Control System Project <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />By motion, accept the Procuring & Installing Parking Control System Project. and <br />authorize the release of bonds and retention, in accordance with City policy. <br /> <br />Background <br />On April 25, 2005, the City Council awarded the construction contract for Procuring and <br />Installing Parking Control System to McGann and Associates, Inc. of San Leandro <br />California, for the amount of $753,663.00. <br /> <br />As part of the redevelopment of the Downtown, and creating a parking control <br />management system, this project provides the equipment and software for three (3) <br />sites in the Downtown. <br /> <br />The installation of this equipment provides the revenue control for the required parking <br />management for the "On-Broadway" Parking Structure, the Marshall Street Parking <br />Structure, and the MiddlefleldlWinslow Surface Parking Lot location. This system will <br />entail illuminated signage, card readers, intercoms, pay-on-foot stations, gate arms, and <br />all other associated equipment. <br /> <br />This equipment is computer-controlled and can be set for any variation in parking rates, <br />times of operation, validation, etc. The equipment has been installed, and the software <br />has been programmed to run the three facilities, in accordance with the approved plans <br />and specifications. In conjunction with the Parking Control Manager, AMPCO, and the <br />installer of the parking control equipment, McGann and Associates have worked closely <br />to insure the proper operation of the parking control system. <br /> <br />The project has been successfully completed in accordance with the plans and <br />specifications, for a total cost of $797,148.26. Change Orders were issued totaling <br />$43,485.26, which represents a 5.8% increase above the original contract amount. The <br />changes included providing use of credit cards for motorists at each card reader, and <br />providing two pay-on-foot shelters for the MiddlefieldlWinslow Surface Parking Lot. <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br /> <br />.,.... <br />
