Mayor Ira acknowtedged Council Member Howard for 10 years of service, Vice <br /> Mayor Pierce for 5 years of service and Council Member Hartnett for 10 years of <br /> service. <br /> 5. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AND CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> Maria Diaz Vivian thanked Council Member Ruskin for the many years of service to <br /> the community on behalf of the Latino community, in particular, and on behalf of the <br /> minority community and the Stambaugh-Heller Neighborhood Association of <br /> Redwood City. She stated that he has served the city well, has been a voice to <br /> speak at times of concern such as when the Jewish temple was vandalized. She <br /> expressed her hope that Council Member Ruskin serves the State of California as <br /> well as he has the citizens of Redwood City and takes the ethical status that is so <br /> much a part of him. She stated that the residents of Santa Clara are really benefiting <br /> because he is a top notch, quality and ethical man who has been her friend over the <br /> years. She stated that he has also mentored members of the Council that will <br /> continue to serve the City well and although going to the State level, Council <br /> Member Ruskin will still serve Redwood City. , <br /> M/S Hartnett/Foust to waive reading of the Consent Calendar except the ordinances <br /> by title, adopt the resolutions and the ordinances, and approve other items.
