If the building cannot be raised, <br /> then the structure has to be flood-proofed by FEMA standards, and the owner needs to <br /> provide flood insurance. Minor modifications in the new ordinance were added to provide <br /> for a variance procedure, and an appeals process. <br /> Alternative <br /> The City must comply with the regulations and statutes governing flood protection, and <br /> comply with standards as established by federal and State law. There is no practical <br /> alternative to meet this mandate. <br /> Fiscal Impact <br /> The implementation of the Order will not have any impact on the City's budget.
