08/11/2003 <br />ORIGINAL <br />RESOLUTION NO. 14546 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />SUBMITTING TO THE VOTERS CERTAIN CHARTER AMENDMENTS <br />AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON <br />TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2003 <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Charter, a General Municipal Election <br />consolidated with the San Mateo County General Election, shall be held on November <br />4, 2003, for the election of Municipal Officers; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to authority provided by Article XI of the Constitution, Title <br />4, Division 2, Chapter 3 of the Government Code and Division 9, Chapter 3, Article 3 <br />(commencing at § 9255) of the Elections Code of the State of California, the City <br />Council of the City of Redwood City desires to submit to the voters proposed Charter <br />amendments; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council is authorized and directed by statute to submit the <br />proposed Charter amendments to the voters; and <br />WHEREAS, on July 21, 2003, the City Council did adopt a resolution providing <br />for a ballot measure to be submitted to the voters of the City of Redwood City amending <br />certain sections of its charter, however, the number of words contained in said measure <br />exceeded the statutory maximum of seventy -five (75) words; and <br />WHEREAS, said ballot measure has been rewritten to contain less than the <br />statutory maximum of seventy -five (75) words. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY DETERMINED AND ORDERED AS <br />FOLLOWS: <br />F:Atty /Reso /Reso.1420 1 14546 <br />080703 <br />
