MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> Mayor Ira took item 9.B out of sequence prior to item 9.A. <br /> A. City Council Members Reports of Conferences /Meetings Attended. <br /> - Council Member Bain reported on two meetings he attended last week: the <br /> Emergency Services Council and the Prehospital Emergency Medical Services <br /> Joint Power Authority. The common theme, was a review of the disasters that <br /> took place in 2010 and dealing with them on a countywide basis. He said there <br /> is detailed analytical information available for those interested through the City <br /> Clerk's Office. <br /> - Council Member Foust said the Redwood City San Mateo County annual <br /> progress seminar is from April 15 to 17, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency in Monterey. <br /> There will be five breakout sessions including disaster preparedness at the <br /> county level and the state budget. <br /> - Council Member Pierce said she and Council Member Foust attended a Save <br /> Caltrain workshop last Friday and there will be another one coming up on <br /> Saturday sponsored by another group. They spoke about the importance of <br /> Caltrain and having a sustained funding source. She also encouraged <br /> participation in the San Mateo County one -day census count of the homeless <br /> scheduled for 6 a.m. Thursday and to call Teri Chin at the Fair Oaks Community <br /> Center. She said it takes about four hours for the census on Thursday morning. <br /> Mayor Ira took item 9.B out of sequence before item 9.A and introduced it as a new <br /> placeholder agenda item going forward. <br /> B. City Manager (Oral) Update. <br /> Dr. Bell spoke about two upcoming scoping meetings regarding Saltworks. City <br /> Attorney Thompson clarified that Council Member Foust could remain at the dais as this <br /> is an informational update, not a discussion, and does not pose a potential conflict of <br /> interest for her. The two meetings are scheduled for January 19, 2011 on natural <br /> resources from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CAB (Community Activities Building) and on <br /> February 23, 2011 on transportation resources from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center. Experts and City representatives will be present at each <br /> meeting.
