6.1.A. - Page 15 <br />Justin Ezell, Public Works Water Superintendent, covered the water fund and he <br />expanded on the Council Utilities Committee. He also covered water rate projections <br />(presentation on file). He noted that the recycled water program phase I has been <br />completed. Mr. Ezell confirmed that staff will be bringing forward a recommendation to <br />change the policy and at that point staff will be requesting some direction. Mayor Ira <br />said that ultimately the state is in charge. Mayor Ira thanked the staff that supports the <br />Utilities Commission for all its work. <br />One Council Member would like to talk about this with the San Francisco Public Utilities <br />Commission and other jurisdictions to off -set the situation of spreading this out. She <br />would like some creative and innovative thinking. Another Council Member inquired <br />about the actual water rate increase which might be between 12% and 15 %. Council <br />ensued in some discussion on water issues and one Council Member provided context <br />on the Bay Area Water Service Conservation Agency (BAWSCA). <br />Paul Willis, Senior Engineer, provided theCapital Improvement Program budget <br />(presentation on file). He explained the impacts and benefits to buildings and facilities. <br />One Council Member noted that we have an extremely well run city and it is a testament <br />to all the folks seated out there who work with our residents and the community, and <br />she thanked the staff for doing a job well done. She said this is a testament to our <br />department heads and the leadership and she appreciates it.
